THE DORSEY/LEE FARM The" DORSEY/LEE FARM" name originated from Eddie and Linda’s middle names; Edward DORSEY Barnes & Linda LEE Barnes. We are a recognized farm and D/L is our official brand or name prefix. We had owned several horses prior to our first registered Morgan horse, which we purchased from Tom Maloney in 1967. The horse’s name was "Maloney’s Prima Donna" and she was in foal. In June of 1968 she delivered a beautiful bay filly "D/L Rebel Rose". From 1967 to now we have owned almost thirty Morgan horses. We have purchased only four Morgan mares in all this time. We currently have four Morgan mares out of our original mares and their three sons. There are several beautiful Morgan horses around the country that carry the D/L prefix. Over the last thirty five years we have shown our Morgan horses in Roadster, Western, Hunt, Jumping, Dressage, English Pleasure, Classic Pleasure, costume class, ˝ mile trotting races, obstacle coarse, lead line, halter and endurance classes. We have enjoyed our Morgans on beach rides and mountain trips and their great personalities. EDWARD DORSEY BARNES/ LINDA LEE GIESE Eddie and Linda met each other in 1957 when they were about sixteen years old. From that time on they dated until 1963 when they married. Linda had purchased a small farm for her horses and that is where they lived while Eddie finished Dental school in 1965 after the birth of their son, Stephen. Shortly after that Eddie was sent to Guam for two years as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Dental Corps and Linda and their son went along. While in Guam they had a daughter , Jodie. They returned to the small farm which was a few miles from a building that Eddie remolded into a dental office. He open his dental practice in l968 and practiced there for 34 years. In 1969 the Port of Portland requested they move from their farm. They found a piece of land in Corbett, Oregon with a house on it and built a horse barn and several other buildings. After almost fifteen years in the Corbett area, they started building a horse arena in 1984 on a twenty acre piece of land they had purchased several years earlier in NW Portland. In 1986 they sold their Corbett home and moved to their current farm in NW Portland. Eddie designed and built their home and all the outbuilding, including pond and landscaping. In betwixt their busy life they enjoy hunting, fishing, claming, of course horse and sheep showing, entertaining friends and occasional trips. Eddie and Linda have been active in several clubs over the years. They have held several offices in Morgan horse clubs, including President, show chairman, secretary and newsletter editor. Eddie is currently the Morgan horse representative and a vice president in the Oregon Horsemen Association. Eddie also served in the Naval Reserve for 27 years retiring as a full Captain. Both are currently active members of the St. Croix International Hair Sheep Association, Eddie being the President and Linda as a Director.
